The Owlz ended the season on a very high note, knocking off the Idaho Falls Chukars 15-3 on Thursday evening at Melaleuca Field.
Orem had a brand new lineup on Thursday night and it provided a ton of pop, putting together 15 runs on 19 hits. Chevy Clarke had a career night, knocking in five runs on three doubles, while Kyle Johnson and Jose Rondon each scored three times. In addition, Jonathan Walsh and Andrew Ray hit solo home runs.
Orem got on the board early and often, scoring 10 runs in the first five innings. The Owlz scored one in the 1st on a solo home run from Jonathan Walsh. An inning later, four runs came home thanks to an Andrew Ray solo blast, a RBI single from Kyle Johnson and a two-run double by Chevy Clarke. All this offense came against Jake Lamb, one of the top pitching prospects in the Kansas City Royals organization that was on a rehab assignment.
The hit party continued in the 4th inning when the Owlz scored two runs on another RBI double from Clarke that scored Johnson and a single from Walsh that brought home Clarke. In the 5th, the Owlz brought nine men to the plate, scoring three runs on a RBI triple from Bushyhead that scores Andrew Ray and a two-run single from Johnson that scored Bushyhead and Rondon.
On the mound, the Owlz were superb this evening. Brandon Efferson was extremely effective in his final start of the season, firing four innings and giving up just one run. Joey Krehbiel received his second win of the season, throwing three scoreless innings. Michael Morin threw a quick 1-2-3 inning and Austin Adams struck out two, despite giving up two solo home runs in the 9th inning.
The Owlz finish the season with a 35-41 record, but do end the season on a winning note. The Owlz organization would like to wish all of our players the best of luck as they continue their journey in the Angels farm system! Thank you to our fans for a great season! See you next year!
