Just one night after it took 12 innings and over four hours to decide Game 1, Sunday night's game was over in the first inning.
Lancaster committed two of its five errors in the first frame and the Mavericks scored a run on a Mickey Wiswall groundout to take a 1-0 lead against starter Colton Cain (0-1). They would go on to score in each of the first six innings.
Jack Marder drove in Gabriel Noriega with a single in the second inning to begin a five-run inning. Marder finished the night 4-for-4 with four runs scored before he was replaced for precautionary reasons. Marder came off the disabled list just before the start of the series.
Steven Proscia hit a three-run homer off Cain to put the Mavs up 9-0 after the third inning. Cain's night ended there. He allowed nine runs - seven earned - on 11 hits over three innings of work.
Reliever Brad Dydalewicz struggled out of the bullpen. The left-hander allowed seven runs - six earned - over 2 2/3 innings.
Carlos Quevedo finished the game out of the bullpen with 2 1/3 perfect innings.
Mavs starter Trevor Miller (1-0) allowed just one run on seven hits over six innings. He struck out seven and walked two.
Lancaster didn't score until the sixth inning. With runners on the corners and no outs, Meyer hit into a double play allowing Domingo Santana to score to make it 15-1. Santana, who had reached on a walk, went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts.
They scored two more in the eighth inning. Meyer picked up a run on a double and Chris Epps singled to score Erik Castro.
Proscia drove in a total of four runs in the game and scored four times. Dennis Raben went 3-for-5 with four RBIs as well. John Hicks finished 3-for-4 and with a double and a RBI.
The best-of-five series shifts to The Hangar on Monday night for Game 3 at 7:00 pm. Tyson Perez will start against Taylor Stanton.
