Now knotted at 1-1, the best-of-five series shifts to Werner Park in Omaha. A string of three-consecutive Pacific Coast League Championship Series sweeps will come to a close.
In Game 1, Omaha took an early lead before Reno scored 13 unanswered runs. On Wednesday, the Storm Chasers again took that early advantage, but this time added on. Leading 2-1 through four, Omaha scored five times in the fifth inning and never trailed. The Aces did push across four runs in the home half of the fifth, but they'd get no closer.
Ace starter Daniel Cabrera (0-2) took the loss, surrendering five runs-four earned-on six hits over 4.1 innings of work. Storm Chasers starter Ryan Verdugo (1-1) picked-up the win, scattering five runs on eight hits over 6.0 frames. Roman Colon shut the Aces down in the ninth to collect the save.
Fifth inning home runs for Anthony Seratelli, Max Ramirez and Mitch Maier highlighted a 12-hit Omaha effort. At the dish for Reno, Mike Jacobs hit a three-run homer in the fifth, and Tyler Bortnick registered two hits and two RBIs.
After an off-day on Thursday, Game 3 is set for Thursday night at Werner Park in Omaha. RHP Joe Martinez gets the nod for Reno, while RHP Nate Adcock counters for the Storm Chasers. First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. PT. Fans can listen live on Fox Sports 630 AM in Reno or by visiting RenoAces.com. The game can be viewed live at the Freight House District, with food and drink specials available.
