The 2012 season drew to a close on Tuesday night in Durham, North Carolina for the PawSox. They dropped the Triple A National Championship Game to the champs of the Pacific Coast League, the Reno Aces, 10-3. The Aces jumped on starter and loser, Nelson Figueroa for three runs in the first inning, and three more in the second. Figueroa, who'd been sensational in the postseason, lasted just two innings, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits.

The Pawtucket offense managed just 3 runs on 7 hits. Tony Thomas homered to lead off the fourth inning. Che-Hsuan Lin knocked in the other two PawSox runs. Danny Valencia, Andy LaRoche and Dan Butler accounted for the other PawSox hits. It was a frustrating night for Pawtucket. The Sox stranded 15 baserunners. Pawtucket was just 1-11 with runners in scoring position. Aces pitchers handed out 11 walks. The game was played despite torrential rain throughout the whole day. It cleared up about 90 minutes before game time. Intermittent rain fell through the night.

The PawSox finished the season at 79-65. They beat Scranton for the spot in the finals and swept Charlotte for their first Governors' Cup title since 1984.
