Burlington, IA (September 25, 2012) - The Burlington Bees opened a new chapter in their storied history on Tuesday when they agreed to a two-year player development contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Angels come to Burlington after spending the past 20 years in Cedar Rapids.

"The Angels have long viewed Scouting and Player Development as the backbone of our organization," said Angels General Manager Jerry Dipoto. "We maintain an organizational commitment to building excellence at both the Major and minor league levels, while placing a high value on strong communities and affiliations in the process. With this in mind we are excited to welcome the good people of Burlington to the Angels family, while looking forward to a long and successful partnership."

Many current Angels played in Cedar Rapids including Howie Kendrick, 2012 Home Run Derby participant Mark Trumbo, and rookie sensation Mike Trout. Three of the top four Angels prospects from the 2012 MLB draft played in the Midwest League this past season; R.J. Alvarez (3rd round), Alex Yarbrough (4th round), and Eric Stamets (6th round).

The Angels become the 14th different Major League affiliation for the Bees since 1962.
