Edwards, an unheralded 48th-round pick from Newberry, SC in 2011, was named the eighth best prospect in the league after dominating over 10 starts with the Indians. The right-hander posted a 2.11 ERA and struck out 60 batters in just 47 innings pitched with Spokane. Including his four appearances with the Arizona League Rangers, Edwards finished the 2012 season with a 5-3 record and sterling 1.48 ERA.
Valdespina, a free agent signing from the Dominican Republic in 2011, was tabbed as the league's 13th best prospect thanks to his towering 6'6" frame and mid-90's fastball. Though he struggled overall with a 5.58 ERA, Valdespina finished the season with a flourish, allowing just three runs over his final three starts including a phenomenal 6 IP-1 H-10 K performance against Salem-Keizer on August 23rd.
