VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees announced on Friday that for the first time since the 2007 season, fans will be able to listen to live audio of all home games in 2013. Away games at Daytona and St. Lucie will also be broadcast and all games will be streamed online for free at ManateesBaseball.com.
Handling the play-by-play duties for the Manatees will be Dave Walkovic. Walkovic was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. and is a currently a senior at Penn State University majoring in Broadcast Journalism.
"In building our Manatees' brand we felt it was imperative to bring game broadcasts back to our fans," Brevard County Manatees general manager Kyle Smith said. "Dave and his experience will become a big asset for our franchise."
He has broadcast all major Penn State sports including baseball, football, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, softball, and lacrosse for the university's student-run radio station, ComRadio.
Last season, Walkovic served as the Assistant Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Daytona Cubs, delaying his final semester and graduation until this fall.
"I am extremely excited to join the Brevard County Manatees, an organization with such a rich history in the Florida State League," Walkovic said. "I look forward to broadcasting an exciting 20th season of Brevard County Manatees baseball."
