Astros' No. 3 prospect George Springer homered twice as part of a 3-for-3 afternoon, walked twice and drove in three runs for the Solar Sox. Dodgers farmhand Rafael Ynoa chipped in two hits, including a triple, two RBIs, a walk and a run scored, while Logan Watkins (Cubs) and Brian Ward (Orioles) each had two hits. Solar Sox starter Jarred Cosart, Houston's top pitching prospect, allowed three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out six over four innings in a no-decision. Marlins prospect Kyle Jensen, the 2011 Florida State League MVP, blasted a two-run homer and Kevin Kiermaier (Rays) broke an eighth-inning tie with a two-out RBI single as the Desert Dogs edged the Scorpions. Starter Scott McGough (Marlins) allowed one hit over three scoreless innings for Phoenix, while Braves southpaw Ryan Buchter earned the win after fanning two in two perfect frames. David Adams cracked a two-run homer for Scottsdale, but fellow Yankees prospect Dellin Betances fell to 1-3 after allowing a run on two hits with four strikeouts over two innings. Surprise 11, Peoria 8
Cody Stanley homered twice and drove in three runs and fellow Cardinals prospect Colin Walsh reached base four times, plated a pair of runs and scored twice as the Saguaros ended the Javelinas' six-game winning streak. Mets outfielder Cesar Puello contributed two RBIs for Surprise, which got seven strikeouts over four innings from Cardinals right-hander Boone Whiting. Nate Roberts (Twins), Rymer Liriano (Padres) and Vinnie Catricala (Mariners) homered for first-place Peoria, while Phillies prospect Zach Collier went 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
