Rizzo batted .342 with 23 home runs and 62 RBI in 70 games with Iowa before getting called up to Chicago on June 26. At the time of his promotion, he was leading all of minor league baseball in slugging (.696), was second in OPS (1.101), and third in both homers and total bases (179). Rizzo hit .285 with 15 home runs and 48 RBI in 87 games with Chicago to finish the year.
Wil Myers of the Omaha Storm Chasers was named the Player of the Year. All eight position players selected to the team came from Pacific Coast League teams.
