MiLB Charities has also donated $5,000 to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation to help with its "Helping Hands" Thanksgiving event of providing meals at four sites in Staten Island and Coney Island, N.Y., tomorrow and Thursday.
The MiLB office shipped more than 350 pounds of food, clothing and cleaning supplies to the impacted areas.
"Our leagues and clubs are like family and we come to each other's aid in times of crisis," said Pat O'Conner, President of Minor League Baseball. "We will provide as much assistance as we can to those in need. Hopefully, our efforts, combined with those of our leagues and clubs, will expedite the recovery of our clubs and their communities that were affected by Hurricane Sandy."
