Outfielder Shane Peterson spent parts of the last four seasons in a RockHounds uniform after coming to the A's organization with Clayton Mortensen and Brett Wallace for Matt Holliday on July 24, 2009. Peterson spent time playing first base and outfield for the RockHounds. The former Long Beach State outfielder has played in a total of 274 games for the RockHounds batting .267 with 13 home runs and 126 RBI.
Grant Green batted .291 with 9 home runs and 62 RBI in 127 games for the RockHounds in 2011. The former 1st round (13th selection overall in 2009) pick from Anaheim, California spent the 2012 season in Triple-A Sacramento and has primarily played shortstop and in the outfield during his minor league career.
As a key member of the 2009 Texas League Championship squad, Arnold Leon posted a 3.51 ERA and a 2-3 record in 33 appearances (7 starts). The Culiacan, Mexico native spent parts of the 2009, 2010 and 2012 seasons in Midland. After undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2010 and missing most of 2011, Leon bounced back strong last year with a 4-1 record, one save and a 2.70 ERA in 44 relief appearances with Single-A Stockon, Midland and Triple-A Sacramento.
Michael Ynoa has battled injuries over his career in the A's organization after being signed as a non drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2008. Ynoa combined for a 1-4 record and a 6.46 ERA in 14 games (12 starts), with Single-A Vermont and the A's affiliate in the Arizona Rookie League. The 6-7 right hander missed the entire 2009 season with a right elbow strain and made just three starts in 2010 before undergoing Tommy John surgery.
To make room, the A's outrighted right-handed pitcher Andrew Carignan (RockHound in 2008, 2011) to Sacramento and designated right-handed pitcher Jim MIller and infielder Brandon Hicks for assignment.
The RockHounds home opener is on Thursday, April 11th against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. Season tickets, mini plans and corporate partnerships are available now. Call (432) 520-2255 for more information.
