Rays' Rogers suspended for test refusal
Outfielder banned 50 games beginning at start of 2013 season

Rays outfield prospect Cody Rogers has received a 50-game suspension without pay for refusing to take an offseason drug test, the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced Monday.
By refusing to take the test, Rogers violated the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program and will serve his 50-game sentence at the beginning of next season.
The 24-year-old outfielder owned a .244/.312/.343 slash line and had four homers and 38 RBIs in 112 games for Class A Advanced Charlotte last season. In 2011, his numbers were .244/.321/.404 with 12 homers and 51 RBIs in 122 games during his full-season debut for Class A Bowling Green.
Rogers was a 2009 seventh-round pick by Tampa Bay out of Panola College (Texas). He was listed on the roster of Triple-A Durham at the time of his suspension.
