Connecticut's trainer for 2013 will be Jason Schwartzman, who moves up from the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Tigers. T.J. Obergefell, the Connecticut Tigers' athletic trainer in 2011 and 2012, has moved up to the Lakeland Flying Tigers of the Class A Advanced Florida State League.
Graham returns for his third season as Connecticut's manager after guiding the Tigers to a 35-40 record last season. 2013 will be his fifth season as a Minor League coach in the organization. He also served as a coach for the GCL Tigers in 2009-10 in addition to being the organization's roving catching instructor during the 2010 season.
In 2013, Rabelo enters his third season as a hitting coach with the Tigers organization. Prior to spending the 2012 season with Connecticut, Rabelo was the hitting coach for the GCL Tigers in 2011. He spent parts of three seasons at the Major League level with the Tigers (2006-2007) and Marlins (2008).
Johnson enters his seventh season in Detroit's Minor League system. His first professional coaching assignment came in the New York-Penn League in 2007 in Oneonta. Johnson spent time as a player in the Astros, Marlins, Yankees, Tigers, Brewers and Dodgers organizations. He logged nine appearances in the Major Leagues with the Detroit Tigers in 2000.
The Connecticut Tigers are the Class A Short-Season affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League. The Tigers will host the 2013 New York-Penn League All-Star Game on Tue, Aug. 13. Tickets for this event, as well as season tickets and mini-plans for the 2013 season are on sale now.
