2013 Theme Nights Announced
More than 30 theme nights including specialty jerseys, appreciation nights, "Salute to the Flyover"
03/01/2013 1:16 PM ET

OMAHA, Neb. - Every season the Omaha Storm Chasers work hard to come up with new ways to make Werner Park truly a place for everyone.  Theme nights allow the Storm Chasers a way to recognize specific groups in the Metro area , including returning nights like Bark in the Park (April 27) and Scout Night (Girl Scouts on June 7 and Boy Scouts on June 21).  With more than 30 theme nights scheduled for the 2013 season, everyone will have at least one night to come "Chase the FUN."

"Providing a FUN experience at Werner Park is something the Storm Chasers do 72 times each summer," said Ben Hemmen, Director of Marketing/Promotions. "Theme nights are one of the many ways we directly involve fans in the FUN experience."

Stadium-wide themes for the 2013 season will aim to accommodate specific Storm Chasers fans, celebrate team history and introduce a new family tradition for the Omaha area.  Based on the popularity of last season's Peanut Free Night, which returns on June 18, the Storm Chasers have created Gluten Free Night on August 12 to highlight all the options at Werner Park for those affected by gluten allergy. The 45th game of the 45th season in franchise history on Friday, July 12 will commemorate great moments of Royals affiliated baseball in Omaha.  On July 2, fathers will be encouraged to bring their daughters to Werner Park on the first ever Daddy Daughter Princess Night.  Evening highlights include a pregame princess parade, a meet and greet with Disney princesses as well as a chance for fathers and daughters to watch fireworks on the field.

Most themes incorporate the many groups attending Werner Park, but two specific themes will play out on the field with specialty jerseys worn by the Storm Chasers.  During the first series of the season, the Storm Chasers will join all of professional baseball in honoring the legacy of Jackie Robinson on April 15 by wearing custom-made "42" jerseys to be auctioned off postgame.  On "May The Fourth Be With You" (May 4), the Chasers will host their annual Star Wars Night.  This year's event will recognize one of the nine finalists for the team name change that took place prior to the 2011 season with Storm Chasers wearing "Omaha Force."  These one-of-a-kind jerseys will also be available for auction postgame.

While all fans that attend Storm Chasers games at Werner Park are appreciated every night, September 1 is designated this season as Fan Appreciation Night.  Four other Appreciation Nights are currently scheduled for May 17 (Public Service and Law Enforcement), June 18 (Healthcare), September 2 (Military), while the Storm Chasers will praise a group that does not get much recognition by hosting an Intern Appreciation Night on July 11.

The Storm Chasers will host their first ever public Youth Baseball Clinics on April 28 and May 19, where young fans will have the amazing opportunity to learn the skills of the diamond from Storm Chasers players on the field at Werner Park.  Baseball will not be the exclusive sport celebrated at ballpark during the 2013 season as the Chasers invite fans from other sports on NASCAR Night (June 29), Football Night (August 8), and Soccer Night (August 10).

The Storm Chasers plan to entertain fans with several off-the-wall evenings: Manager Cell Phone Night (April 25), Catfish Night (May 23), No Power Night (June 27), Hall of Fame Night (July 28), Duck Dynasty Night (August 22) and Salute to the Flyover Night (July 13). In response to the loss of all Flyovers at sporting events, the Storm Chasers will give away gliders to the first 500 fans, hold a paper airplane competition and attempt to have the largest remote controlled plane pregame Flyover.

The 2013 season kicks off on Friday, April 12 with the first theme night of the season, "Group National Anthem."  Storm Chasers fans are invited to form groups of ten or more and sign up to sing the National Anthem on the field.
