(Allentown, Pa.)---Get your first look at the top prospects in the Phillies' organization when the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils trek north to face the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the Sixth Annual U.S. 222 Showcase exhibition game at Coca-Cola Park on April 2. Game time is 6:35 p.m. with all gates opening at 5:30 p.m. to kick off the 2013 season. Parking is free for this event.
All tickets to the 222 Showcase will be General Admission, granting fans access to the Field Level seating bowl on a first-come, first-serve basis. "We're very happy to partner with our fellow affiliate once again for this terrific event," said Fightin Phils General Manager Scott Hunsicker. "It's a great opportunity for Phillies fans to see future stars while raising funds for a charitable organization."
The Phillies' top affiliates are separated by a mere 40 miles on U.S. Highway 222 - and both are located within 70 miles of Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. While a 7-6 win in last year's contest at FirstEnergy Stadium, the Fightin Phils trail the IronPigs, 3-2, in the series. Numerous future and former Major Leaguers have played in this game, including Rich Thompson, Domonic Brown, Erik Kratz, Kevin Frandsen and Darin Ruf in last year's contest alone.
IronPigs Charities presented by The Air Products Foundation is 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing educational and recreational opportunities for Lehigh Valley youth. Since inception, the organization has distributed over $550,000 to 77 local organizations. Every dollar raised by ticket proceeds in the 222 Showcase will be donated to IronPigs Charities.
