For Immediate Release
March 7, 2013
RENO, Nev.- Back for the fourth-straight season, the Reno Aces Baseball Club will present the Student Heroes program in 2013, rewarding deserving students throughout Northern Nevada.
The Aces have offered the program since 2010, seeking to stress the value of education, work ethic and perseverance to students in the area. The program has been conducted in every corner of the region, including Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Fallon, Gardnerville and Lake Tahoe.
Selected schools are treated to an assembly featuring Aces players and the club's mascot, Archie. Players participate in a question-and-answer session with students, motivating the children to pursue their education and relaying personal stories of overcoming obstacles. Archie encourages students to follow the guidelines of Triple-A: attendance, attitude and academics.
Following each assembly, the Aces donate tickets to the students based on academic achievement, attendance and superior citizenship in the classroom as determined by their teachers.
Schools wishing to participate must apply online by clicking here. Submissions will be accepted from teachers, administrators, students and parents.
The Aces kick off the 2013 season on Thursday, April 4, in Colorado Springs, before hosting the home opener Thursday, April 12. Single-game tickets go on sale Saturday, March 16 at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.RenoAces.com, calling (775) 334-7000 or coming to the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office. Discounted full and partial season ticket packages can also be purchased now.
