The Springfield Cardinals, Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, have announced the hiring of Andrew Buchbinder as the team's new Radio Broadcaster and Public Relations Manager.
"After a nationwide search, we're excited to welcome Andrew to the Cardinals family," said Springfield Cardinals Vice President/General Manager Matt Gifford. "We feel that his experience, enthusiasm and professionalism will fit well within our organization both on and off the air and we look forward to having him behind the mic when the season kicks off on April 4."
Buchbinder, 27, spent the past four seasons as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League. Previously, the Larchmont, NY native served as the Media Relations Manager and Broadcaster with the Bakersfield Condors Hockey Team (ECHL) from 2007-09, as well as the play-by-play voice of the Bakersfield Blaze in the California League during the 2008 campaign.
"It is an immense honor to follow Jeff Levering as the Broadcaster and Public Relations Manager for the Springfield Cardinals and join the rich tradition of broadcasters to call all different levels of Cardinals baseball," said Buchbinder. "Springfield has one of the best reputations and fanbases in all of Minor League Baseball, and I can't wait to get to know everyone as we watch the future of the St. Louis Cardinals develop."
All 140 games will once again be broadcast live on Jock 98.7FM and SpringfieldCardinals.com. The regular season begins for the Cardinals on the road against the Corpus Christi Hooks on Thursday, April 4th. The Hammons Field opener is just 29 days away on Thursday, April 11th.
