Spinners to "Put Scal to Work" July 12
Celtics Fan Favorite Brian Scalabrine joins Lowell staff

LOWELL, MA - The Lowell Spinners, Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have made their latest, and certainly tallest, hire for the 2013 season in announcing they will be putting NBA Champion and Boston Celtics fan favorite Brian Scalabrine to work when they take on the Staten Island Yankees July 12, 2013 at LeLacheur Park.

Scalabrine, who won a NBA Championship as a member of the 2008 Celtics and currently serves as an analyst for Comcast SportsNet New England, will join the Spinners staff in time for the team to take on the dreaded Yankees, performing a variety of roles.

"While we typically don't begin our hiring season until the spring, when you have the opportunity to bring someone as talented as 'Scal' on board, you can't pass up the opportunity," said Spinners President and General Manager Tim Bawmann. "The people of Boston love Scal, and so do we, so we are thrilled to have him coming to LeLacheur Park!"

During his day at LeLacheur, Scalabrine will serve as a member of the grounds crew, dragging the field with the staff, acting as the biggest bat-boy in Spinners' history, pouring you a draft beer from the Concession Stand or selling you a bag of peanuts vending through the stands.

"Hearing Brian's analysis during Celtics broadcasts, he's a natural behind the microphone, so we look forward to using him as a special Public Address Announcer during the game," said Bawmann. "Can't make it to the game, fear not! Scal will paint a picture of baseball bliss as he hops on for an inning of radio time on 980 WCAP!"

An 11-year NBA veteran, Scalabrine is beloved in Boston and beyond for his outgoing personality and dedication to, well everything. He is a weekly guest on the 98.5 The Sports Hub Toucher and Rich Show and recently took on local amateurs in a one-on-one contest in a promotion organized by the show.

"New England has the best sports fans in the world.  I can't wait to work at the game and help out wherever needed," said Scal. "It's going to be a fun time so make sure you buy tickets and help put me to work!"

Tickets for this game, which also include a Coca-Cola Post-Game Fireworks Show and Player Poster Giveaway, go on sale Tuesday, March 19 at www.LowellSpinners.com. The Spinners open the 2013 home schedule Wednesday, June 19 against the Connecticut Tigers.
