Spikes' Wells wins CBICC Spirit Award

Team's promotions and community relations manager honored at Mar. 13 Awards Gala

STATE COLLEGE- State College Spikes manager of promotions and community relations David Wells has been honored by the Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County (CBICC) as winner of its 2013 Spirit Award. He was presented his award as part of the Chamber's annual Awards Gala, which was held on March 13 at the State Theatre in Downtown State College.

The CBICC Spirit Award is given annually to an individual who has demonstrated a positive outlook on Centre County and promoted the Chamber and Centre County to others through business or volunteer efforts.

"David is incredibly passionate about his role with the Spikes and works tirelessly to keep the team active in the community 12 months a year," said Spikes Sr. Vice President and General Manager Jason Dambach. "We're all very proud of David and are excited to see his talents honored by the local business community." 

In has role as the club's head of promotions and community relations, David helps to develop and manage the Spikes' promotional and theme night calendar and overall in-game experience at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, while also marketing and promoting Spikes games and events through grassroots efforts and the team's social media outlets.

He also handles all community outreach for the club, including oversight of the club's school and community programs and all mascot and player appearances. David also manages the Spikes marketing and promotional internship program and the "Spikes Squad" game day marketing team.

The State College native and State High graduate first joined the Spikes as an intern in the team's promotions department for the 2009 and '10 seasons before being hired to a full-time role in September 2010.
