During his time with the Drive in 2011, outfielder Bryce Brentz dominated South Atlantic League pitchers. That trend has continued as Brentz has shot up the Red Sox farm system ladder, and is ranked by Baseball America as the 8th best prospect in the organization.
On Saturday morning, from 8:30 AM to 9:15 AM, Brentz will answer fans questions through the Greenville Drive's Twitter and Facebook accounts, as part of the Verizon Digital Dugout. Some questions, as well as Bryce's responses, will be featured in the April Edition of Drive Magazine, which will be available for the first time, complimentary to fans on April 4th - Opening Day - at Fluor Field.
As a member of the Drive in 2011, Brentz hit .359 (61-for-170) with 11 homers, 36 RBI, and 43 runs scored in only 40 games, before earning a promotion to the Salem Red Sox. Brentz set a Greenville franchise record by reaching base safely in 35 straight games to begin the 2011 campaign.
In 2012, Brentz spent the majority of the year with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, hitting at a .296 clip (135-for-456), with 17 round trippers, 76 RBI, and 62 runs in 122 games. The 24-year-old closed out the 2012 campaign with the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox, where he helped capture the International League's Governors Cup, and a berth in the Triple-A World Series.
