On a day the Seattle offense went well past double-digits in runs, it was perhaps Brandon Maurer's star that shined brightest. The 22-year-old right-hander struck out seven and scattered six hits and a walk over five innings in the shutout. The Mariners' No. 10 prospect, who is battling for a spot in the Major League rotation, lowered his spring ERA to 0.90 in six appearances (three starts).

Top St. Louis prospect Oscar Taveras collected a spring-high four hits Monday afternoon as the Cardinals rallied with three runs in the ninth to edge host Minnesota, 4-3. The 20-year-old Taveras is now hitting .309 in 20 Grapefruit League games. First baseman Matt Adams doubled, singled and drove in three of the Cardinals' runs, while St. Louis pitching prospects Shelby Miller and Trevor Rosenthal were solid. For Minnesota, outfield prospect Aaron Hicks contributed a pinch-hit single in the ninth and reliever Ryan Pressly tossed 1 2/3 scoreless frames.

Boston got strong performances from catching prospect Christian Vazquez, who homered and doubled, and outfield phenom Jackie Bradley, who tripled, singled and drove in two runs in a pair of late-game at-bats. Vazquez's two-run shot was his first of the campaign, while Bradley lifted his spring batting average to .444. The Red Sox's top prospect, shortstop Xander Bogaerts, struck out in his only at-bat and was reassigned to Minor League camp after the game Boston fell thanks to four separate three-run innings by the Orioles.
