The Toronto Blue Jays today announced they have claimed RHP ALEX BURNETT off waivers from the Minnesota Twins and optioned the reliever to the Bisons. To make room on their 40-man roster, the Blue Jays designated INF Lars Anderson for assignment.

Burnett, 25, appeared in 67 games for the Twins in 2012 posting a 4-4 record with a 3.52 ERA. The righty limited left-handed Major League hitters to a .215 (20-93) average and just one extra-base hit (.247 slugging pct.).

The 6-0, 221 pound right-hander was the Twins 12th round pick in the 2005 draft. Burnett has spent his entire three-year Major League career with Minnesota, recording an 8-11 mark and a 4.61 ERA in 174 relief appearances.
