Budweiser, 95SX Sponsor Unique "Race" for the Out-of-Shape, Uncommitted Runner
04/05/2013 12:18 PM ET

CHARLESTON, SC - True runners enjoy a marathon or even a good 5K, but for the Lowcountry "have-funners" the RiverDogs Zero-K "Race to the Bar" could be more your style.

The largest Zero-K Race in Charleston will be held on Thursday, April 25, beginning at 6 pm at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park's Murray's Mezzanine and will precede the RiverDogs game against the West Virginia Power.

The event is co-sponsored by Budweiser and 95SX radio station.

"This event is for the out-of-shape, uncommitted track star in all of us that just want to have fun," said Melissa Azevedo, the RiverDogs' Special Events Director.

The event, which is open to all participants 21-over, has a $25 entry fee that includes a race packet, t-shirt, race bib, post-race dinner and a ticket to the game.

As with all RiverDogs' wacky special events, awards will be presented to the best beer belly, most in need of new running shoes, best costume and the top prize will be awarded to the "most excited to start drinking." There will also be several fun contests that include beer trivia and a beer pong tournament.

The event leads right into the RiverDogs game against the West Virginia Power for another "Budweiser Thirsty Thursday" at The Joe.

Participants may register for the race in person at Riley Park, online at www.rileyparkevents.com or on race day in front of the stadium at 6pm.
