04/25/2013 11:30 PM ET

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Keys closed out an eight-game road trip on a sour note Thursday night with a 5-2 loss to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. The Keys finished the night with just two hits. SS Sammie Starr drove in both of Frederick's runs with a two-run double in the third inning. Pelicans' starter, RHP Alec Asher, notched his second win of the season after tossing seven innings on the night.

RHP Zach Davies retired the first five batters he faced on Thursday before CF Royce Bolinger stepped to the plate with two away in the second inning. Bolinger hit an opposite field home run to right field to give the Pelicans a 1-0 lead after two innings.

The Keys countered with a pair of runs in the third inning. With one out, Alec Asher walked Connor Narron and Steve Bumbry in succession. While Sammie Starr was at the place, Narron advanced to third and Bumbry moved to second on a passed ball. Starr then came through with a two-run double down the left field line. Starr leads the Keys with 12 RBI on the year.

Myrtle Beach regained the lead in the fifth inning. With men on the corners and one out, RF Jake Skole lifted a Zach Davies pitch into right field. Branden Webb came up empty on a diving attempt and the ball rolled all the way to the wall. Royce Bolinger and Patrick Cantwell scored on the Skole triple. LF Chris Grayson capped off the frame with a RBI double down the right field line.

Zach Davies exited after the fifth inning. Davies allowed four runs on five hits while walking three and striking out five.

Joe Van Meter closed out the game with two scoreless innings of relief and picked up his first save of the season.

The Keys return to Frederick on Friday night and will host the Carolina Mudcats. LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (1-1, 3.32) will take the hill for the Keys while Carolina will turn to RHP Jordan Cooper (0-2, 3.24). First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. with coverage beginning on 1450 AM The Source with the Frederick Gorilla Pregame Show.
