Drillers' Matzek gets first Double-A win

Rockies No. 13 prospect fans six, pitches five strong innings

Tyler Matzek, the Rockies' No. 13 prospect, struck out six, walked one and allowed three hits over five innings Friday as Tulsa beat Northwest Arkansas, 6-1. The left-hander lowered his ERA to 2.95 en route to his first Double-A win.

Kent Matthes had two doubles and an RBI for the Drillers, while Delta Cleary Jr. and Jayson Langfels each added two hits. Langfels homered and drove in three runs.

Andrew Lambo extended his hitting streak to 11 games and drilled his third homer of the season in Altoona's 7-3 loss to Erie. Hernan Perez paced the SeaWolves with three hits, three stolen bases and two RBIs, while Wade Gaynor, James McCann, Jamie Johnson and Marcus Lemon each had two hits.

Matt Crouse pitched 2 2/3 perfect innings to pick up the save.

Danny Salazar recorded nine strikeouts over five innings as Akron blanked Binghamton, 4-0. Austin Adams and Bryce Stowell completed the shutout with two innings apiece.

Indians No. 4 prospect Ronny Rodriguez had two hits and a stolen base, while Chun Chen reached base four times for the Aeros.

Marlins No. 9 prospect Derek Dietrich belted a walk-off homer in the ninth inning to give Jacksonville a 6-5 win over Mobile. No. 7 prospect Marcell Ozuna belted his fourth roundtripper in three games in support of starter Jay Jackson, who struck out six over five shutout innings.

D-backs No. 8 prospect David Holmberg fanned eight over three innings but surrendered five runs -- three earned -- on five hits for the BayBears. Nick Evans doubled and singled and Brent Clevlen also had two hits for Mobile. No. 7 prospect Nick Ahmed went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

J.R. Murphy collected three hits, including a pair of doubles, as Trenton roughed up Portland starter Matt Barnes in a 6-3 win. Barnes, ranked third among Red Sox's prospects, allowed six earned runs on 11 hits over 4 2/3 innings.

Yankees No. 3 prospect Tyler Austin doubled, walked and scored a run, while No. 4 prospect Slade Heathcott added his second stolen base.

Astros No. 13 prospect Domingo Santana went 2-for-4 with his third homer of the season as Corpus Christi beat Frisco, 4-2. No. 3 prospect George Springer added a hit and a run scored, while Carlos Quevedo picked up the win with five scoreless innings.
