Aces Fall to Grizzlies, 9-6

RENO, Nev.-The Reno Aces fell 9-6 to the Fresno Grizzlies on Saturday night at Aces Ballpark.

With two outs in the bottom of the second, outfielder Tony Campana reached base on a single up the middle to record the first Aces hit of the game. With pitcher Chase Anderson at bat, Campana went on to steal second, third and home to score Reno's second run of the game.

The Grizzlies answered in a big way in the top of the third, pushing across six runs on five hits to take a 7-2 lead.

Kila Ka'aihue's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh brought the Aces within one, down 7-6, but the Grizzlies scored two more runs in the eighth to take a final 9-6 advantage.

Campana went 2-for-4 on the night with a run scored. Chris Owings and Ka'aihue also had a multi-hit game for Reno. Catcher Ed Easley hit his first home run of the season in the fourth, a two-run shot.

Former Reno Aces outfielder Cole Gillespie had two doubles and a home run for Fresno. He drove in two runs and scored two runs on the night.

RHP Chase Anderson was charged with the loss for Reno. He gave up seven earned runs on nine hits in 6.0 innings. LHP Eury De La Rosa gave up only one hit in 1.1 innings to end the game.

RHP Shane Loux earned his first win of the season. Loux gave up three earned runs on six hits in 5.0 innings. Closer Heath Hembree, who threw a perfect ninth inning for the Grizzlies, was credited with his seventh save of the season.

The Aces will look to avoid a sweep in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Aces Ballpark. RHP Charles Brewer (0-2, 6.75 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Fresno will counter with LHP Michael Kickham (0-2, 7.13 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT for another Renown Children's Hospital Family Funday featuring baseball bingo.
