ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Umpire School™ (TUS™) announced today that its Executive Director, Justin Klemm, and Lead Rules Instructor, Jorge Bauza, will be taking part in the first umpire camp held in the Caribbean this Saturday, May 18. The free, one day Major League Baseball Umpire Camp will take place at the Moises Garcia Sports Complex in Guaynabo City, Puerto Rico.
Klemm and Bauza were invited by MLB to join several MLB umpire supervisors and others associated with its umpiring program to instruct attendees from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
"Jorge and I are looking forward to working with Major League Baseball in educating attendees on the rules, mechanics and intricacies of umpiring at this first camp held in the Caribbean," Klemm said. "When learning of the caliber of individuals that will be participating in this event, we feel honored to have been chosen to represent the game in this way."
Each January, TUS holds a four-week Professional Course that is open to both current and prospective umpires, regardless of past experience or future aspirations. TUS recently received approval from the Department of Homeland Security to accept foreign students, which will provide people from around the world with the opportunity to further their umpire education.
