Astros announce promotional schedule

Single game tickets on sale in box office on Monday, June 3

Greeneville, TN - The Greeneville Astros have released their 2013 promotional schedule. With fireworks nights, theme nights, promotions and fun giveaways, the Astros will be offering fans a full slate of entertainment to go along with an exciting game schedule beginning with the club's home opener on June 23. Fans will be able to purchase single game tickets from the box office at Pioneer Park beginning Monday, June 3 at 10:00am.

Throughout the 2013 season, the Astros will be offering fans numerous chances to receive free giveaways upon entrance into the ballpark, beginning with the magnet schedule giveaway presented by Terry, Terry & Stapleton on opening night. Other giveaways include items such as wristbands, hand fans presented by Legacy Fine Jewelers, air fresheners, seat cushions, cowbells, reusable grocery bags, can koozies, foam fingers, billboard ink pens and jersey t-shirts of former Greeneville Astros MVP and Houston Astros All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve.

In addition to all of the great giveaways already mentioned, one of the most anticipated giveaways each year is the annual Greeneville Astros Hometown Hero Bobblehead. This year, on August 10, the latest in the series will actually be a unique bobblesub giveaway presented by Laughlin Memorial Hospital featuring the U.S.S. Greeneville submarine. The ship, part of the United States Navy, is named after Greeneville, TN and has her homeport in Pearl Harbor, HI.

The final giveaway, on August 29, will be the coveted fleece stadium blanket giveaway, also sponsored by Laughlin Memorial Hospital. As with all the giveaway items, there is a limited quantity, so fans are encouraged to arrive at Pioneer Park early on these special nights to ensure their chances of receiving one of these free giveaways.

The Astros will also be hosting several theme nights throughout the 2013 season to provide different kinds of entertainment for all fans. Theme nights in the month of June include Bark in the Park and Parrot Head Night featuring a pregame concert by The Caribbean Cowboys Band.

In July, the Astros will be having Wellness Night by Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Tribute to Dairy, Christmas in July by Greeneville Publishing, Super Heroes Night presented by Laughlin Memorial Hospital and NASCAR Night.

The Astros finish up their season in August with theme nights such as Faith Night, School Pride and Teacher Appreciation Night by Tennessee Education Lottery, Military Appreciation Night and Fan Appreciation Night on the season finale taking place on August 30.

In addition to special theme nights, the Astros will also be offering fans daily promotions that aim to provide fans with many different savings opportunities at the ballpark. For example, Sunday home games will give fans the chance to purchase Buy One, Get One Free tickets as well as the opportunity to play Baseball Bingo to win prizes.

On Monday nights, it will be all about the kids at Pioneer Park with Kids Nite Out sponsored by Takoma Regional Hospital. Members of the Lil' Outlaws Kids Club can attend on these nights at no charge as part of their membership and also eat free. Kids are also given the opportunity to run the bases with the team mascots, Tex and Tess, immediately following the ballgame. Takoma Regional Hospital will also provide a variety of entertainment on these nights.

Adults can also get in on the Monday night fun with Monday Mug Night, which offers adults over the age of 21 a discounted beverage price after their purchase of the Greeneville Astros' beverage mug at the Tiki Hut.

Tuesdays are always $2 Tuesday at Pioneer Park, featuring many discounted items, such as programs, hot dogs and entrance to the Kids Zone for the low price of $2. This year, the Astros will be introducing fans to Twitter Tuesday, which will take place on every Tuesday home game, and give fans the opportunity to show their Astros spirit through social media.

Thursday features include $1 Dog Night with hot dogs available for one dollar and discounted drinks for Thirsty Thursday at both the concessions stands as well as the Tiki Hut.

In addition to the giveaways, theme nights and daily promotions the Astros will also be providing beautiful fireworks shows on seven different occasions. The fireworks begin on opening night, June 23, to ring in the start of the Astros 2013 season. Then, the first of four Friday Night Fireworks shows will take place on June 28. Next, the annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration, the largest fireworks show in East Tennessee, will occur on Independence Day and be presented by LandAir and Marsh Petroleum. On August 30, the season finale fireworks will be on display, also presented by LandAir, to end the 2013 season.

The Astros will also provide fans the opportunity to help raise awareness for various causes throughout the season. Kidney Disease Awareness Night by Fresenius Medical Care will take place on July 25. Then, on July 27, the Astros will be putting on Dravet Awareness Night in order to inform and educate individuals on the disease and will also be promoting Ed Randall's Bat for the Cure in order to raise awareness for prostate cancer.

The Astros will also be holding a Stars & Stripes Cap Silent Auction as part of their Fourth of July celebration in which proceeds from the purchase of these caps goes to the Welcome Back Veterans program. During the game, fans will be able to bid on the special Fourth of July Stars & Stripes caps worn that night by the 2013 Greeneville Astros players and coaches.

Two annual non-game events, in which the Astros team up with the Boys & Girls Club of Greeneville and Greene County, are also scheduled during the upcoming season. On July 13, the Astros' players and coaches will offer their free Kids Baseball Skillz & Drillz Clinic to children 14 and under. Then, on August 10, the Astros will host their annual 5K race presented by Atmos Energy in which all proceeds go to benefit the local Boys & Girls Club.
