06/03/2013 9:48 AM ET

AUGUSTA, GA. - With Chris Stratton on the mound for Augusta and an early 1-0 lead after the first inning, the GreenJackets were in good shape to split the series with the RiverDogs. Unfortunately, Charleston (33-21) scored six runs off of Stratton, en route to its 8-2 win against Augusta (30-26).

Stratton got off to a great start Sunday afternoon. He used two strikeouts and a pick off to escape the first inning.

Then in the bottom of the first, the offense took some pressure off Stratton by adding a run. With Jesus Galindo on second, Mitch Delfino singled on a fly ball to right field to score Galindo.

But the RiverDogs jumped ahead in the top of the second by added two runs, and the GreenJackets couldn't come back. The GreenJackets only other run came in the bottom of the third when Delfino brought in Galindo again on a single.

Stratton finished Sunday with 11 hits, six runs and six strikeouts. He now holds a 3.77 ERA and a 6-3 record.

In the sixth, reliever Steven Okert took over on the mound for Augusta. In his three innings of work, Okert gave up three hits and two runs while striking out two batters.

Despite coming in with a six run deficit, closer Tyler Mizenko worked a scorelss, hitless ninth inning. Mizenko now boasts a 0.73 ERA.

The GreenJackets will head to Greensboro on Tuesday to face the Grasshoppers for the first time this season. They will return home on Friday, June 7.
