Isotopes Soar Past Redbirds
06/16/2013 11:52 PM ET

The Isotopes (38-32) rolled to their fourth consecutive win and third straight over the Redbirds (35-36), taking game three of the series 12-5. Third baseman Brian Barden (2-for-4, R, 2 RBI, 2B) established a new Isotopes season-high hitting safely in his 11th consecutive game. Every starting position player in Albuquerque's lineup recorded a hit.

Shortstop Justin Sellers (3-for-4, 2R, 3 RBI, 2B, 3B) and left fielder Matt Angle (3-for-4, R, 2 RBI, 3B) both had RBI triples accounting for three of the Isotopes first eight runs. Angle's three bagger tied him with Dee Gordon for most on the Isotopes with five. The trio of Sellers, Angle and Barden combined for eight of the team's 18 hits and seven of the team's 12 RBI.

Memphis jumped out to a first-inning 2-0 lead and Jamie Romak improved the Memphis lead to 3-0 on a solo shot to left in the second.

Barden's second-inning double scored second baseman Justin Sellers. Barden would come around to score on a fielder's choice off the bat of Matt Wallach cutting the deficit 3-2. An inning later, Justin Sellers followed a game-tying single by left fielder Matt Angle with his first triple of the season, scoring two runs to put Albuquerque in front for the first time of the game, 5-3. One of the hottest Isotopes, Barden, capped the third inning scoring with an RBI single.

Right fielder Chili Buss punctuated the evening with his six home run of the season.

Red Patterson (4-1, 4.38) made his fifth start of the season for the Isotopes, earning the win. The righty allowed three runs over his first two innings, but just one over his last three and a third. He allowed seven hits, three walks, a homer and struck out four.

Southpaw Geison Aguasviva and righty Steve Ames combined for two scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Each recorded a strikeout. Newcomer Jose Dominguez finished the game for Albuquerque making just his third Triple-A appearance. The righty struck out two of the three batters he faced in his perfect ninth.

Boone Whiting (4-2, 3.86) suffered the loss allowing eight runs, six earned, over four innings of work.

Manager Lorenzo Bundy was ejected in the first inning after arguing a play at the plate.

The Isotopes and Redbirds close out their four-game series tomorrow, June 17 at 7:05 PM MDT. Southpaw Aaron Laffey (2-3, 6.12) is scheduled to take the ball for Albuquerque against Memphis' righty Carlos Martinez (1-0, 1.56). Listen to all the action on 610 AM "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
