Portland, Maine- Former Boston Red Sox outfielder Bernie Carbo will be appearing at Hadlock Field on Tuesday, July 2nd at 6:00 PM when the Sea Dogs play a doubleheader against the Trenton Thunder.
Carbo will be throwing out a ceremonial first-pitch, signing autographs, and selling copies of his book; Saving Bernie Carbo.
Carbo had a 12-year Major League career with the Cincinnati Reds (1969-72), St. Louis Cardinals (1972-73, 1979-80), Boston Red Sox (1974-76, 1977-78), Milwaukee Brewers (1976), Cleveland Indians (1978) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1980). Carbo is best known in Red Sox history for his pinch hit three-run homer in Game Six of the 1975 World Series to tie the score at six, paving the way for Carlton Fisk's legendary game-winning home run in the bottom of the 12th inning for a 7-6 Red Sox victory. In his career, he hit .264 with 96 home runs and 358 RBI in 1010 games. On November 10, 2004 he was inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame.
