Catcher Michael Ohlman was named Carolina League Player of the Week for the week of June 17-23. 

Frederick Keys catcher Michael Ohlman has been named Carolina League Player of the Week for the week of June 17-23. Ohlman recorded five hits and drove in four runs over the weekend in Frederick's first series after the all-star break.

Ohlman went 5-for-10 in the three-game set against Myrtle Beach, recording a pair of triples Friday, homering on Saturday and going 2-for-3 with an RBI on Sunday. He scored five runs, walked twice and had on-base percentage of .615 and an OPS of 1.200 in the series.

Ohlman raised his average to .300 over the weekend and has been Frederick's most productive hitter since coming off the disabled list on May 23. Since returning to the lineup, Ohlman's batting .340 with five home runs, four triples, five doubles and 12 RBIs. Ohlman missed six weeks after suffering a shoulder injury in mid-April.

For the season, Ohlman is batting .300 with 25 runs, eight doubles, four triples, five homers, 18 RBIs, 26 walks, an on-base percentage of .418 and a slugging percentage of .538. If he had enough at-bats to qualify, he would rank third in the league in on-base percentage and slugging percentage.

Ohlman, a 2009 draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles, is in his first season at the Advanced-A level and in his fifth season of professional baseball. An 11th round pick of the O's, the 6-5, 215-pound right-handed hitting catcher batted .304 in 51 games with Class-A Delmarva last season. Ohlman, 22, was drafted out of Lakewood Ranch High School in Florida. Entering the 2013 season, MLB.com rated him No. 19 among Orioles prospects.
