Greeneville, TN - The Greeneville Astros hosted the Elizabethton Twins on Monday night at Pioneer Park for game two of their three-game series. In game one, the Twins earned a come-from-behind win in extra innings. In game two, they would never trail on their way to a 7-2 victory.
The Twins scored a run in the second inning on a passed ball, in the fourth on a RBI-single by Tanner Varva and in the fifth on a Romy Jimenez RBI-double. Then, in the sixth, they added four runs alone.
Dereck Rodriguez hit a two-run double to right field to score the first two runs. Bryan Haar immediately followed that with a RBI-triple to score Rodriguez. Then, Haar scored on a wild pitch to push the Twins lead to 7-0.
In the seventh inning, after Bobby Borchering got on for the Astros with a single to left field, Darwin Rivera homered to left to put the Astros on the scoreboard. It was the first homer of the season for Greeneville. Trailing 7-2, however, the Astros never got any closer as the Twins held them over the final two innings.
In the end, despite the Astros' pitchers collecting 13 strikeouts, the Twins got their seven runs on 14 hits and four costly errors. Each of the nine Twins batters got a hit with five of them picking up two. Meanwhile, Borchering and Rivera both had two hits for Greeneville.
Twins lefty Randy Rosario picked up the win after going 5.0 innings, giving up two hits, no runs, one walk and striking out three.
