06/27/2013 1:08 AM ET

The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes won their fourth straight, downing the Eugene Emeralds 5-1 to clinch the series in front of 2,956 at PK Park on Wednesday.

The Volcanoes started off the scoring by putting two runs on the board in the second when Cristian Otero hit a two-RBI single to score Shilo McCall and Jonathan Jones.

They made it 3-0 in the third when McCall singled for the second-straight inning to bring in Jeremy Sy. McCall was 2-for-3 on the night with an RBI.

Starter Jose Reyes (2-1) pitched five shutout innings, allowing only three hits and no runs. After Reyes' performance, Volcanoes starters have not allowed an earned run in 25 straight innings.

Emeralds starter Erik Schoenrock (0-1) was knocked out of the game after giving up three runs on five hits in four innings.

The Volcanoes added to their lead in the fifth when Kentrell Hill and Brandon Bednar hit back-to-back doubles off of reliever Justin Livengood. Bednar's double scored Hill and he later scored on a Sam Eberle single making the score 5-0. Bednar now has eight RBIs on the year, tied for the team lead.

The Emeralds put their only run of the game on the board in the eighth when Fernando Perez doubled to right and scored on the next play off a Trae Santos single.

The Salem-Keizer pitching staff held Eugene to just five hits. Their only runner to reach third was the eventual run scored by Perez.

Volcanoes relief pitching was solid as Jake Smith tossed the sixth and the seventh, fanning five. Cameron McVey struck out the side in the ninth inning to secure the win.

With the win, the Volcanoes now have a four-game lead in the Northwest League South Division over second place Eugene and Boise who are both 5-8.

The Volcanoes and Emeralds will conclude the three-game series Thursday at PK Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
