Sea Dogs' Vazquez collects four hits

Red Sox prospect plates two runs, scores twice for Portland

Red Sox No. 14 prospect Christian Vazquez went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored Friday night in Portland's 5-1 win at New Hampshire.

Gavin Cecchini, Boston's seventh-ranked prospect, whacked his second double in six Double-A games and also walked twice, while Michael Almanzar was 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and two runs scored for the Sea Dogs.

Clint Robinson missed the cycle by a triple for New Hampshire.

Collin McHugh gave up four hits and struck out seven without walking a batter over seven innings in Tulsa's 3-0 blanking of San Antonio.

Acquired from the Mets organization, McHugh improved to 1-1 with a 1.38 ERA in the Texas League. He's 4-3 with a 2.58 ERA and 53 strikeouts against 13 walks across two Minor League levels.

Rockies No. 4 prospect Kyle Parker doubled twice, drove in a run and scored once in support of McHugh.

Padres No. 9 prospect Cory Spangenberg had two hits for the Missions. Donn Roach, San Diego's 14th-ranked prospect, fell to 5-8 after giving up three runs on six hits and a walk while fanning three over six innings.

Cory Mazzoni piled up 10 strikeouts over six innings as Binghamton blitzed Trenton, 7-3. The Mets' No. 15 prospect allowed three runs on five hits and threw 61 of 96 pitches for strikes.

Mazzoni improved to 4-2 with a 4.04 ERA in the Eastern League.

Cesar Puello, ranked just ahead of Mazzoni in the Mets system, singled, stole a base and scored a run.

Yankees No. 11 prospect Ramon Flores singled after reaching base three times in his previous game. Carmen Angelini doubled, singled, stole a base and scored a run for the Thunder.

Brandon Hynick gave up three hits and a walk over six scoreless innings for Arkansas in a 4-1 win over Frisco.

Hynick, who struck out three, is 6-3 and ranks fifth in the Texas League with a 2.88 ERA.

Angels No. 7 prospect Randal Grichuk had two hits, a stolen base and a run scored for the Travelers, while Travis Witherspoon -- ranked directly behind Grichuk -- stole his 19th base and scored a run.

Teodoro Martinez singled, stole a base and scored the RoughRiders' lone run in the ninth inning.

Ricky Oropesa and Giants No. 16 prospect Andrew Susac hit back-to-back homers in the second inning of Richmond's 10-9 loss to Erie.

Javier Herrera and Giants No. 4 prospect Joe Panik also went yard in the sixth for the Flying Squirrels, with Herrera totaling three hits and three RBIs.

Tigers No. 5 prospect Tyler Collins and Luis Castillo drilled back-to-back homers in the bottom of the ninth to win it for the SeaWolves.

Eugenio Saurez, Detroit's No. 7 prospect, also homered, while No. 11 prospect James McCann joined in the longball party.
