Doubledays Drop Heartbreaker in Extras
Despite duplicating their season high hit total, Auburn loses their first extra inning affair of 2013.

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Doubledays tied their season high in hits on Sunday afternoon against Jamestown, but it wasn't enough as the Jammers top the Doubledays 6-5 in extra innings.

The Doubledays (5-8) jumped on the Jammers (7-5) early scoring two runs in the first. Jamestown answered with two runs in the bottom half of the first. Jamestown took the lead with three runs in the second. Auburn trimmed the Jammers lead to one plating two runs in the third.

Each team's bullpen threw scoreless innings until the eighth when Wilman Rodriguez drilled a RBI double to tie the game at five. Jean Valdez had another big day at the plate for the Doubledays going 3-5 with a RBI. Valdez finished the series 8-14 with a double and two home runs. Doubledays first basemen went 4-6 with two RBIs. The four hits are a season high for a Doubledays player during a game.

Mike Mudron and LJ Hollins each pitched season longs during the extra inning game. Mudron tossed 2.1 innings with four strikeouts and Hollins threw 2.2 innings and didn't allow any runs.

Jamestown won in the bottom of the 12th when Harold Ramirez hit a walk off single to score Jeff Roy. It was the first extra-inning game for the Doubledays this season.

Auburn returns to action tomorrow night against Batavia. Game one is scheduled to be played in Batavia with a first pitch set for 7:05.
