07/03/2013 11:31 AM ET

AUGUSTA, GA. - Alex Rodriguez has caused a buzz in Charleston. On Tuesday, Rodriguez started for the Charleston RiverDogs in his first rehab start since having surgery on his left hip.

While it's still uncertain where Rodriguez will go next, he is still on Charleston's roster and is expect to be in today's starting lineup.

The Augusta GreenJackets are starting an Augusta for A-Rod campaign in hopes of encouraging New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman to continue Rodriguez's rehab stint with the Charleston RiverDogs in Augusta.

As mentioned by Rodriguez himself, he has enjoyedthe Southern hospitality in Charleston and the City of Augusta is ready for A-Rod to have a similar experience here in Augusta.

With the Augusta for A-Rod campaign, fans can use the code AROD to purchase tickets to Thursday's game with the hope that Rodriguez will make the trip to Augusta, Georgia. In case Rodriguez doesn't come to Augusta, all fans who purchased a ticket with the AROD code can still attend the GreenJackets/RiverDogs game on July 4 and receive a free ticket for equal or lesser value to another game through this weekend's series with Charleston.

Ticket prices start at $13 for box seats, $11 for reserved and $9 for general admission. The GreenJackets are already expecting a great crowd and will have a fireworks extravaganza following the game. To order tickets call the office at 706-736-7889 and mention A-Rod or purchase them online with the code AROD.
