Travelers' Cron homers, drives in five
Angels' No. 3 prospect leads offensive assault in 10-0 shutout

C.J. Cron homered and drove in five runs in the Double-A Arkansas Travelers' 10-0 win over the Midland RockHounds. The Angels' No. 3 prospect upped his average to .295 and now is in fourth place in the Texas League in RBIs with 57.

Cron's teammate, Los Angeles' No. 7 prospect Randal Grichuk, had three hits and scored three times.

Maikel Franco went 3-for-4 to raise his batting average to .423 in the Fightin Phils' 3-2 loss to the Thunder. The Phillies' No. 3 prospect has a 1.149 OPS and five home runs since being promoted from the Florida State League.

Robert Gilliam (3-2) allowed a hit and two walks and struck out three in six innings to earn the victory in the Senators' 1-0 win over the Baysox in the opener of a doubleheader. The start was Gilliam's longest of the season.

Jerad Head hit a solo blast in the fourth inning to provide Gilliam with all the run support he would need. Head then went 2-for-3 with another homer and four RBIs in the nightcap, which ended after five innings due to rain in favor of the Senators, 6-2. The blast was the 30-year-old outfielder's 12th.

Garin Cecchini singled and doubled in four at-bats in Portland's 4-3 win over New Britain. Boston's No. 7 prospect scored and drove in a run, and he raised his average to .418 in Double A.

Mississippi's Robby Hefflinger went deep for the second time since his promotion from the Carolina League in the Braves' 5-4 win against Birmingham. The left fielder had 21 homers for Class A Advanced Lynchburg.

Chicago's No. 16 prospect Marcus Semien reached base five times for the Barons, singling twice and walking three times. The shortstop also stole his 16th base.

Chattanooga's Chris Reed fanned a career-high nine in four shutout innings in the Lookouts' 2-1 loss to the Suns. The Dodgers' No. 5 prospect has 74 strikeouts in 96 1/3 innings on the season. Reed's fellow rotation mate Ross Stripling, Los Angeles' No. 16 prospect, earned his first save with three strikeouts in two scoreless frames.

Marlins' No. 2 prospect Jake Marisnick singled twice in four at-bats for Jacksonville to raise his average to .289.

Nick Tropeano (3-6) gave up three hits and walked one in six innings in the Hooks' 5-0 win over the Drillers. The Astros' No. 9 prospect fanned six, bringing his season total to 73 strikeouts in 79 2/3 innings.
