Everett evens series 2-2 with 6-1 win over Volcanoes

The Everett AquaSox topped the Volcanoes for the second game in a row, winning 6-1 in front of 2,493 at Everett Memorial Stadium to even the series at 2-2.

Volcanoes starter Joe Kurrasch (1-2) gave up the first runs of the game in the fourth inning as the AquaSox took the lead and never gave it back. Kurrasch gave up three straight singles to start the inning to Jack Reinheimer, Justin Seager and D.J. Peterson. Peterson's single would score Reinheimer and move Seager to third. Reggie Lawson then hit a two-RBI triple to make it a 3-0 game and later scored on a Carlton Tanabe single. In the inning the AquaSox had four runs on five hits.

Peterson added a run on an RBI double in the fifth to score Seager. Seager was 3-for-4 on the day with two runs scored and an RBI.

Everett starter Rigoberto Garcia (4-0) pitched five and one third innings, not giving up a run until the sixth when Ryan Truntland singled in Tyler Hollick. Garcia gave up one run on five hits, striking out seven and walking only one. Garcia has won four straight games this season.

After Garcia left the game, the AquaSox pitching staff would not surrender another hit. Jose Valdivia and Aaron Brooks combined for thee and two thirds shutout innings, striking out three and walking only one.

Three new Volcanoes joined the team for their first game today: Truntland, Tyler Horan and Brian Ragira. They have all been drafted in 2013 and called up from the Arizona Rookie League. With the additions, first basemen Jonathan Jones was reassigned to Arizona.

The three newest Volcanoes combined to go 2-for-10 including the game's lone RBI.

The two teams will face off in the deciding game of the five-game series on Monday at Everett Memorial Stadium. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
