Frederick grabbed an early 1-0 lead but saw Wilmington score seven times with two outs in the fourth and fifth innings as the Keys dropped an 8-1 decision to the Blue Rocks Tuesday Night at Frawley Stadium. Wilmington starter Kyle Zimmer struck out 13 batters in six stellar innings and the Keys fanned a league-high 18 times in the game.
After going down via the strikeout seven times in their first nine at-bats the Keys found life. CF Johnny Ruettiger extended a hit streak to eight games with an infield single, 2B Jerome Pena grounded a base hit to right field and DH Michael Ohlman lined a run scoring single to left-center field as Ruettiger plated the game's first run. It would be the lone highlight for Frederick.
Wilmington came to life with two, two-out rallies that would sink the Keys. In the fourth inning, with two outs DH Tyler Chism singled home two runs and then came around when LF Geulin Beltre hit an RBI-double to right-center field to give Wilmington a 3-1 lead.
An inning later Wilmington opened it up with three consecutive two-out RBI-hits that plated four runs.
The game ended on a strikeout of LF Tucker Nathans. It was the 18th strikeout of the game tying a franchise-record from August 21, 2004 when the Keys struck out 18 times in a game at home against Myrtle Beach.
