Puello, Syndergaard pace Mets win
Club's No. 14 prospect collects three hits, drives in two runs

Mets' No. 14 prospect Cesar Puello was 3-for-4 with two RBIs as Binghamton bested Portland, 4-0, on Thursday.

Puello, fresh off an appearance in the Eastern League All-Star Game, is batting .328 with 15 homers and 58 RBIs this season. He was just named the Topps Eastern League Player of the Month for June.

Mets' No. 3 prospect Noah Syndergaard gave up a hit and fanned three over two innings in a tuneup for Sunday's Futures Game. Ryan Fraser earned his first win after allowing three hits over three innings of relief for the Mets.

Mike McCarthy took the loss after allowing a run on seven hits while striking out seven over 4 1/3 innings for the SeaDogs.

Alex Dickerson, the Pirates' No. 10 prospect, was 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs scored as Altoona blanked Akron, 7-0.

Mel Rojas Jr. continued his strong showing this month, going 2-for-5 with a run scored and is batting .321 in June. Kelson Brown scored twice, once on a steal of home. Eliecer Navarro improved to 2-2 after giving up five hits over six innings for the Curve.

Kyle Bellows was 2-for-4 with a stolen base in the loss.

Cubs' No. 18 prospect Alberto Cabrera picked up his ninth win of the year after giving up a run on three hits over seven innings as Tennessee bested Jackson, 3-1.

Cabrera is tied for the Southern League lead in victories and paces the circuit with 107 strikeouts for the Smokies. Arismendy Alcantara was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and stole his 22nd base of the year while Jonathan Mota scored twice. Zach Rosscup fanned two in a hitless ninth for his third save.

Ji-Man Choi slugged a solo homer in the fifth inning to end Cabrera's no-hit bid for the Generals.

Rene Garcia was 3-for-4 with an RBI and fell a homer shy of the cycle as Corpus Christi beat Frisco, 5-2.

Michael Burgess had two hits and drove in two runs while Enrique Hernandez hit his seventh home run of the year for the Hooks. Ruben Alaniz gave up two runs on six hits and struck out four over 6 1/3 innings to earn the victory.

Hanser Alberto smacked an RBI triple for the RoughRiders.
