Sampson, Missions hurl one-hitter
San Diego's No. 15 prospect strikes out seven over six innings

Keyvius Sampson allowed two runs on one hit and struck out seven over six innings in the Missions' 4-2 win over the RoughRiders. The Padres' No. 15 prospect, who has a 2.91 ERA, did not factor in the decision. Leonel Campos (1-0) earned the win with two innings of relief and Matt Stites picked up his 13th save with two strikeouts in the ninth frame.

Brett Nicholas homered for Frisco's only hit of the game.

Alex Dickerson went 4-for-5 in the Curve's 9-4 victory over the Aeros. The Pirates' No. 10 prospect homered, doubled twice, scored three times, drove in a pair and stole home in the ninth on a double steal. The 2010 Big Ten Triple Crown winner is third on Akron in homers with 11, three behind team leader Andrew Lambo.

Virgil Vasquez (2-2) spearheaded New Britain's one-hitter of Trenton in a 1-0 victory. The right-hander retired the first 17 batters he faced and carried a no-hitter into the seventh before a leadoff single by Jose Pirela broke up the bid. Vasquez struck out nine in eight innings. In his previous outing, the California native gave up four hits and a run in a nine-inning complete-game win over Portland.

Daniel Ortiz tripled and scored the only run of the game.

Brandon Waring hit two homers and drove in six runs in the Baysox's 7-2 win over the Flying Squirrels. The 2008 Orioles' Minor League Player of the Year has hit 150 home runs in the Minor Leagues. The first baseman has 14 this season between Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk.

Jake Peavy (1-0) allowed a run on five hits in five innings to earn the victory as the Barons blanked the Stars, 5-0. The rehabbing White Sox right-hander struck out four and walked two. It was Peavy's first appearance as he works his way back from a broken rib suffered June 4.

Brad Glenn hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the 12th inning in New Hampshire's 7-5 defeat of Reading. The right fielder also launched a solo shot in the third. The Blue Jays prospect has 13 home runs on the season and hit 19 for the Fisher Cats in 112 games in 2012.

Josh Rodriguez had three singles in four at-bats for Binghamton in a 4-0 win over Portland. The third baseman raised his average to .313, tied for fourth in the Eastern League. Erik Goeddel (8-3) picked up the win, allowing four hits over six innings. The 2010 24th-round pick is tied for the league lead in victories.

Matt Barnes (4-6), Boston's No. 3 prospect, took the loss, allowing two runs -- one earned -- and three hits in three innings. The right-hander struck out five, bringing his season total to 88 in 70 2/3 innings.

Ramon Cabrera singled four times in four at-bats in Erie's 7-3 victory against Harrisburg. The catcher had been 0-for-18 in his previous five games. Detroit's No. 18 prospect upped his batting average to .295 in 139 at-bats.

Matt Crouse (5-7) picked up the victory, allowing six hits and a run in 5 2/3 innings. The left-hander struck out four and walked a pair.

Travis Witherspoon launched two homers in Arkansas' 6-3 loss to Springfield. The Angels prospect added a single and drove in three runs. Los Angeles' No. 4 prospect Taylor Lindsey had three singles in four at-bats to raise his average to .271.
