SAN JOSE, CA-The San Jose Giants will bring island culture and Hawaiian cuisine to Municipal Stadium for the 7th Annual A Giant Luau, presented by Alaska Airlines, on Friday, August 9 at 7:00 PM against the Bakersfield Blaze. The evening will be full of Hawaiian festivities ranging from hula dancers and island music to a special pig roasting ceremony in Turkey Mike's BBQ. In addition, one lucky fan will walk away with a trip for two to Hawaii courtesy of Alaska Airlines.
"A Giant Luau transforms the entire atmosphere of Municipal Stadium, allowing fans to experience and embrace the 'Aloha' spirit of the Hawaiian islands while enjoying San Jose Giants baseball," said Juliana Paoli, Chief Marketing Officer of the San Jose Giants. "With hula dancers, island music and a special pig roasting it is guaranteed to make everyone at the ballpark feel like they are in Hawaii."
Fans that wear Hawaiian clothing to the game Friday night will receive two FREE future game tickets. Gates open at 6:00 PM and make sure to be one of the first 1,000 fans in attendance to receive festive leis and Alaska Airlines Thundersticks. The team will be wearing special Hawaiian themed jerseys that will be part of a silent auction during the game. The highest bidder will be able to go on the field following the game and receive their new autographed jersey right off the respective San Jose Giant's back.
Turkey Mike's Famous BBQ will be serving native Hawaiian cuisine including roasted pig, Hawaiian style burgers, macaroni salad and much more. The Hukilau Restaurant will also be serving authentic cuisine. Traditional music from the islands will be provided by Eono Kane, accompanied by Hula dancers from Halau Na Wai Ola. A Tacky Tourist Contest and other festive luau themed promotions will take place throughout the night. Vendors with Hawaiian goods and snacks will add to the Luau festivities.
