Clippers bash Bisons
Bauer goes the full nine innings in Clippers romp
07/22/2013 10:35 PM ET

The Clippers used a pair of four run innings to cruise past Buffalo 10-3 at Coca-Cola Field.

Columbus got on the board first with a Jeremy Hermida RBI single in the top of the first. Buffalo quickly retaliated with a Moises Sierra RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the inning.

The Clippers got the lead back with a three run double by Roberto Perez in the top of the second. It was only the beginning of huge inning and padded their advantage following a bases loaded walk by Chun Chen in the same frame.

The Bisons inched closer to Columbus with a two run homer by Andy LaRoche in the bottom of the fourth, but the Clippers would get both of those runs back and then some in the top of the seventh. A four run inning consisting of an Ezequiel Carrera solo homer, a Juan Diaz RBI double, a Matt Carson RBI single, and an RBI single by Perez broke the game wide open.

Diaz later added a solo homer in the top of the ninth. He was one of six Clippers who drove in at least one run on the night. Columbus would go on to win for the ninth time in their last eleven games. Trevor Bauer (W, 5-2) turned in a solid outing for the Clippers, giving up three runs on five hits in a nine inning complete game effort. Ricky Romero (L, 2-4) took the loss for Buffalo.

The Clippers and Bisons will resume baseball activities on Tuesday night. Columbus will have Dominican hurler Danny Salazar (3-2, 3.57) get the start on the mound. Buffalo will counter with lefty J.A. Happ, who will be making a rehab start for the Triple-A farm club of the Toronto Blue Jays. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
