Cubs' top prospect goes yard for fourth time in eight games

Javier Baez slugged a two-run homer but it wasn't enough as Double-A Tennessee fell to Huntsville, 6-4, on Tuesday.

The Cubs' top prospect has homered in four of his last eight contests, driving in eight runs in that time for the Smokies.

Brock Kjeldgaard hit a three-run blast that proved to be the difference while Adam Weisenburger went yard for the Stars. Rene Tosoni was 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Christian Villanueva, the Cubs' No. 8 prospect, doubled and scored once.

Miguel Sano, the Twins' No. 1 prospect, homered, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice as New Hampshire fell to Portland, 8-7. Sano has homers in four of his last six games.

Ronald Bermudez slugged a three-run long ball and Tony Thomas doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Sea Dogs. Terry Doyle improved to 1-3 after fanning 10 and allowing five runs on four hits over seven innings.

Josmil Pinto hit his 14th homer of the year for the Fisher Cats.

James Ramsey, the Cardinals' No. 13 prospect, homered to give him RBIs in six straight games as Springfield routed Tulsa, 13-2. He went 3-for-4 with four runs scored.

Veteran infielder Ruben Gotay had three hits, including a double, and drove in six runs while Mike O'Neill was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored out of the leadoff spot. Richard Castillo earned his seventh win after allowing two runs on six hits over six innings.

Kiel Roling slugged his 21st homer of the season for the Drillers.

Orioles' No. 4 prospect Eduardo Rodriguez earned his first Double-A win after giving up two runs on three hits and striking out three over six innings as Bowie beat Akron, 8-2.

Kyle Hudson was 3-for-5 with two runs scored out of the leadoff spot and Seth Loman plated a pair of runs. Zech Zinicola tossed two hitless innings of relief for the Baysox.

Indians' top prospect Francisco Lindor drew a pair of walks and has reached base in all eight games he's played for the Aeros since being promoted to the Eastern League.
