SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (JULY 25, 2013) - The Frisco RoughRiders were blanked for the third straight night in a 5-0 loss in the series opener at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. The RoughRiders have not scored since the first inning on Monday night, a stretch of 35 innings without a run.

Frisco starter Nick McBride did his best to keep the game close early, firing two scoreless frames to start the contest. San Antonio (20-14, 58-45) got the scoring started with a two-out rally in the third. Rico Noel reached on an infield single. The next batter, Reymond Fuentes doubled on a liner out to left field to bring home for the game's first run. Although, it was the only run the team scored in the inning, the Missions posted runs in four straight innings.

In the fourth, Jake Blackwood touched home a failed double-play turn that would have ended the inning off the bat of Jeudy Valdez. The speedy Noel led off the fifth with a single and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Tommy Medica clanked a ball off the pitcher McBride, and 'Riders shortstop Hanser Alberto's throw didn't make it home in time, as Noel scored from second on the infield single to make it a 3-0 Missions advantage.

In McBride's final inning, the sixth, three passed balls by Tomas Telis contributed to a two-run Missions inning. One scored on a passed ball and Valdez drove home his second run of the contest to make it 5-0, which held up as the final score.

Keyvius Sampson (8-4) and the Missions bullpen shut down the 'Riders bats. Sampson scattered four hits over six shutout frames and fanned five to pick up the win. The combination of Leonel Campos, Matt Lollis and Matt Stites out of the bullpen allowed just one baserunner, a one-out double by Ryan Strausborger in the ninth. Frisco (13-21, 52-52) has not scored since Teodoro Martinez knocked his tenth home run to leadoff the bottom of the first on Monday in Frisco.

Nick McBride (1-7) surrendered all five runs scored on ten hits in the loss.

The RoughRiders try and end their four-game slide in game two of the series in San Antonio on Friday evening at 7:05 p.m. Kevin Pucetas (10-7, 4.71 ERA), the team-leader in wins, makes the start for the RoughRiders. The Missions' Matt Wisler counters (4-4, 3.60 ERA). Fans can tune in to the play-by-play broadcast on beginning at 6:40.
