Cole Brilliant, Sens Handle Trenton 5-3
07/31/2013 3:18 PM ET

Trenton, NJ - A.J. Cole shut down the Trenton Thunder over six innings of work and the Harrisburg Senators evened the series with a 5-3 victory at Arm & Hammer Park.

Cole surrendered just four hits and an unearned run to pick up his second victory in as many starts since being promoted from High-A Potomac. The right-hander walked three and struck out six.

Only one of the five Harrisburg runs was earned, as the Senators took advantage of three Trenton errors. Brian Jeroloman led off the third with a single and later came around on the first of two miscues by Thunder third baseman Casey Stevenson.

In the fourth, Ricky Hague delivered a one-out single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Then, with two out, Jeroloman struck out on a pitch in the dirt and catcher Jeff Farnham threw it away to first, allowing Hague to score.

Carlos Rivero drew a bases loaded walk in the seventh, before the Senators tacked on two more unearned runs, courtesy of Stevenson's second error.

Jerad Head had a pair of singles for Harrisburg. Sean Nicol drew a pair of walks and scored two runs. Tyler Herron picked up his second save with two shutout innings, including four strikeouts, to close the ballgame.

Tomorrow, the Senators conclude their three-game set in Trenton against the Thunder. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 6:50 p.m.
