FRISCO, TEXAS (AUGUST 2, 2013) - After a slow start, the San Antonio Missions powered past the Frisco RoughRiders 3-1 Friday at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The 'Riders were unable to take advantage of scoring opportunities early in the game.

Despite having runners on base, both teams were silent through five innings. Teodoro Martinez knocked his first triple of the season with one out in the third, but the 'Riders (17-25, 56-56) followed up with two outs.

San Antonio (25-17, 63-48) loaded the bases in the fifth after Tyler Tufts walked Austin Hedges and Reymond Fuentes, and allowed a single by Cory Spangenberg, but the Missions couldn't break through.

Joe Van Meter came on in the sixth for Tufts. With two outs in the frame, Adam Buschini slammed a solo homer over the left wall for the first run of the game.

Jeudy Valdez led off the seventh with a double, and then Spangenberg knocked an infield bun single, putting runners at the corners. Rico Noel hit an infield RBI fielder's choice to score the run. Fuentes then singled to right field, tacking on another run, extending the Missions lead 3-0.

Facing their tenth shutout of the season heading into the ninth, Chih-Hsien Chiang blasted a home run deep over the right wall off Jeremy McBryde to cut the lead 3-1, which was the final.

Matt Wisler (6-4) struck out six in six innings of one-hit baseball to earn the victory, while Joe Van Meter (0-4) allowed three runs off four hits in 1.1 innings to suffer the defeat.

The 'Riders continue their series with the Missions Saturday at Dr Pepper Ballpark at 7:05. Rehabbing Rangers' pitcher Colby Lewis (0-1, 8.31 ERA) will make the start for the RoughRiders against Missions right hander Juan Oramos (0-2, 4.58 ERA).
