North Little Rock, AR - LHP Anthony Ferrara, RHP Kevin Thomas and LHP Lee Stoppelman combined to one-hit the Arkansas Travelers for the 4-0 shutout win before 9,132 fans at Dickey-Stephens Park on Saturday evening.

The trio of Cardinals pitchers retired the last 23 Travelers in a row, facing only one more than the minimum. Ferrara (W, 6-4) dealt seven scoreless frames with a season-high nine strikeouts. He allowed only a one-out single in the second inning, before retiring the final 17 batters he faced in a row. Thomas and Stoppelman then both provided a perfect relief inning apiece.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals (20-23, 53-58) cracked the scoreless tie against RHP Lay Batista (L, 4-8) in the top of the fourth inning. 1B Xavier Scruggs kept the inning going with a two-out walk, before darting to second on a wild pitch. RF Stephen Piscotty then grounded an RBI double inside the third base line, plating Scruggs for the 1-0 lead.

Springfield stretched the advantage with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. CF James Ramsey and LF Starlin Rodriguez started the frame with consecutive singles, and both took an extra ninety feet on a fielding error on Rodriguez's base hit. 3B Ruben Gotay then chopped an RBI fielder's choice to 1B CJ Cron, who tried unsuccessfully to throw out Ramsey at the plate, enabling everyone to be safe. After a strikeout and a stolen base by Gotay, the Travelers (25-18, 58-54) intentionally walked Piscotty, loading the bases for SS Luis Mateo. On the first pitch, Mateo ripped a two-run double to left field, bringing in Rodriguez and Gotay for the 4-0 advantage.

Ferrara dealt two more perfect frames before Thomas and Stoppelman followed suit, closing out the 4-0 shutout win for the Cardinals.
