66ers Hit Parade Continues
08/09/2013 4:53 AM ET

Adelanto, CA -Both Michael Snyder and Alex Yarbrough matched the Inland Empire 66ers (62-55, 25-22) season high for hits in a game Thursday with four each, helping the squad to a series clinching 9-7 win over the High Desert Mavericks (54-62, 20-26).

The 66ers had some two out magic early in the contest with the heart of the order providing a four run first. After Alex Yarbrough's first hit of the night, Zach Borenstein walked and both were driven in on a double by Michael Snyder. Brian Hernandez capped the rally with his fifth home run of the year to make it 4-0 before the team took the field defensively.

That would prove to be plenty of support for Danny Reynolds who had a quality start, allowing just three runs in seven innings for his team leading 11th win of the year. The victory would not be that easy however, as the Mavs rallied from down 9-3 to make it a two run game on an 8th inning grand slam. Robert Powell was able to put a halt to High Desert's run, retiring all five batters he faced for his first save of the season.

Yarbrough's hits brought his season total to 159, which added him to the 66ers record books. The 66ers second baseman passed 2012 major league All Star Bryan Lahair and 2012 California League All Star Taylor Lindsey while bumping 2004 San Bernardino star Gary Harris off the leader board entirely. Yarbrough ranks 8th in franchise history for hits in a single season, and has a chance at establishing a new team record (currently 196 set by Adam Riggs in 1995) and perhaps becoming the first ever San Bernardino player to record 200 hits in a season.

Yarbrough will continue his pursuit while the 66ers continue their quest for the postseason Friday when Inland Empire welcomes the Visalia Rawhide to San Manuel Stadium. There will be a post game fireworks extravaganza in celebration of Back to School Night at San Manuel Stadium. It will also be a 50 cent Friday sponsored by Toyota and Scion of Redlands. Catch the game on the 66ers flagship station AM 1050 KCAA starting with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians pre game show at 6:55 PM.
